History: James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Gene Tunney was born on May 25, 1897 in New York City, New York. He won the World Heavyweight Title from Jack Dempsey on September 23, 1926. He also held the American Light Heavyweight Title. He retired after fighting Tom Heeney on July 26, 1928 with a final record of 77-1-3 with 1 no decision, 1 no contest and 45 KO's. Presented here is an antique photo of Jim Jeffries and Gene Tunney.
