History: Allie Stolz was a leading lighweight contender in the 1940's. Born on September 1, 1918 he turned professional on November 12, 1937. During his career he beat several notable fighters including Chalky Wright, Pete Scalzo, Jack Sharkey, Jr. and Bobby Ruffin. On May 15, 1942 he got a shot at the title,but lost a 15 round decision to champion Sammy Angott. Stolz retired with a final ring record of 63 wins, 10 losses and 2 draws. Presented here is a scarce signed photograph of Allie Stolz. Full description: This is a 5" x 8" promotional photograph which Stolz has boldly inscribed and signed in fountain pen ink, "May you Always Have the Best Joe DeMona From Your Friend Allie Stolz." It appears the May and You had to be written over by Stolz, probably from a poor pen, but the remainder is perfect. The photo has a crisp image and there are no creases, rips or tears.
