James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He initially retired undefeated in 1905 posting career victories over James Corbett, Tom Sharkey as well as Robert Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Offered here is an original, first generation, mounted photograph of James J. Jeffries seated with his wife.
