NELSON, BATTLING-JIMMY BRITT ORIGINAL ANTIQUE PHOTO (1905)

On September 9, 1905 at the Mission Street Arena in Colma, California lightweights Battling Nelson and Jimmy Britt battled in a fight billed as for the World White Lightweight Title (a racial taunt at champion Joe Gans). Nelson won by knockout in the 18th round. Offered here is a very rare, original, first generation photo showing the two fighters squaring off before the fight. The photo comes from the estate of fighter Johnny Obeck.
This original first generation, antique photo of Battling Nelson and Jimmy Britt is 7 1/4" x 9 1/4." There are small creases in the corners. Clean photo with no rips or tears.
