Nathan Mann, nicknamed Christmas Menchetti ( New Haven , May 3, 1915 - Hamden , October 26, 1999 ),was a US boxer. Born from an Italian family emigrated to the United States, he became a professional in 1934. In his career, Mann won the New England Heavyweight title, beating George Fitch on July 29, 1940 in West Haven . He successfully defended the title three times (last on February 13, 1941, against Charley Eagle ), and then regained it on May 25, 1942 ,in New Haven , against Bill Weinberg. After defending him another time, he was finally beaten by Bernie Reynolds on April 18, 1946. Mann also challenged the then- world heavyweight champion Joe Louis on February 23, 1938 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Louis had the best, beating Mann after knock-out it three times.
