HISTORY: Billy Conn was born on October 8, 1917 in East Liberty, Pennsylvania. He started his professional career with a win over Bob Dorman on August 30, 1934.He won the World Light Heavyweight Title in a bout with Melio Bettina on July 13, 1939. He fought Joe Louis twice for the World Heavyweight Title but was not victorious. In the first fight in 1941 Conn had Louis outpointed, but decided to go for the knockout and was stopped himself in the 13th round. Conn fought many of the greats of the era including: Solly Krieger, Gus Lesnevich, Teddy Yarosz, Vince Dundee and Tony Zale. He retired after fight Joe Louis in an exhibition match on December 10, 1948 with a final record of 63-12-1 with 14 KO's. Billy Conn passed away in 1993.
