Abe Attell is considered one of the most controversial champions in boxing history. Nicknamed, "The Little Champ," Attell won the World Featherweight Title defeating Johnny Regan on September 3, 1903. After losing it in 1904 he regained it defeating Jimmy Walsh on February 22, 1906. He held the title until 1912. Had victories over Frankie Neil, Harry Forbes, George Dixon, Johnny Kilbane, and Eddie Hanlon. Perhaps remembered best for his involvement in the 1919 "Black Sox" World Series fix.
