On November 13, 1953 at Chicago Stadium welterweight champion Kid Gavilan defended his title against tough Johnny Bratton. Gavilan won a 15 round unanimous decision. Bratton suffered a severe whipping and would have been justified in giving up the fight after twelve rounds. Offered here is an original wire photo from this event depicting action during the fight.
