HISTORY: On Friday, September 14, 1923 at the Polo Grounds in New York heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey met notable challenger Luis Firpo of Argentina with the title at stake. Both fighters were down in the fight and Dempsey survived being knocked out of the ring to come back and stop Firpo in the second round in defense of his title. One of the most exciting fights in boxing history. Offered here is the rare souvenir program for this event.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, 4 page, souvenir program picturing both fighters on the cover. Not scored, but result neatly added to Dempsey's record on page 3. Tight binding. Center crease. Some separation at upper and lower center fold on both pages. Edge and corner wear with several small closed tears, but no paper loss. Some soiling on back cover. Some toning from age. 8 1/2" x 11 1/4." Rare.
