HISTORY: On July 4, 1910 in Reno, Nevada heavyweight champion Jack Johnson defended his title against former champion James J. Jeffries. This was a widely anticipated bout. Johnson completely outclassed Jeffries and stopped him in defense of his crown. Offered here is a rare, souvenir postcard with racial overtones predicting, "Won't It Be A DARK Fourth Of July If The Eclipse Looks Like This? The postcard suggests Johnson will be the winner.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, used, F & W postcard picturing Johnson at the forefront and Jeffries partially pictured behind him. Bold color and print. Bold, clear images. No creasing or tears. Corner wear. Mild color run. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2." Very scarce issue and original to 1910.
