On July 4, 1910 James Jeffries came out of retirement in an attempt to take the Heavyweight Title from Jack Johnson. Jeffries used former champion, James J. Corbett as his assistant. There had been some bad blood between Jeffries and Corbett's old foe John L. Sullivan. This was patched up when the group met at Jeffries training camp prior to the Jeffries-Johnson fight. Presented here is a rare photograph depicting Sullivan, Corbett, Jeffries and others meeting in 1910.
This original antique photograph shows John L. Sullivan and James Jeffries shaking hands. James J. Corbett is next to Sullivan on his left. Between Jeffries and Sullivan is old time fighter, Joe Choynski. To Jeffries right is Otto Floto and William Muldoon. A particularly rare photo to find Sullivan and Corbett together. Clean and sharp image. Upper right corner clipped not affecting image. No creases. 5" x 6 3/4".
