WILLARD, JESS-GUNBOAT SMITH LARGE FORMAT PHOTOGRAPH (1913)

On May 20, 1913 at Coffroth's Arena in San Francisco future world heavyweight champion Jess Willard took on Gunboat Smith in the main event. Smith prevailed winning a 20 round decision. Offered here is a large format photograph which depicts the two men in the ring squaring off before the fight as their seconds look on. Photograph was taken in 1913. This large format dates to the 1920's.
