HISTORY: Any argument as to who was the greatest heavyweight champion always includes the two men who have adorned this boxing glove with their signature, Cassius Clay and Joe Louis. Joe Louis, the dominant champion of the late 1930's and 1940's, held the record for the longest reign as champion, 11 years and defeated the likes of Jimmy Braddock, Max Schemling. Jersey Joe Walcott, Billy Conn, Max Baer and Jack Sharkey. Cassius Clay the Olympic champion in 1960 won the heavyweight title a record three times and defeated Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers, Jimmy Ellis and Floyd Patterson. Offered here is a vintage boxing glove boldly signed by Cassius Clay and Joe Louis. Authenticated by James Spence (JSA).
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, light tan color, leather, left hand boxing glove. Boldly signed in ink on the backhand, "From Cassius Clay 19-63" and "Good Luck Joe Louis." Labeled ALL Star at the wrist. Some wear on glove not affecting the backhand. Includes the white laces. 10 1/2" long. Vintage signed gloves of Clay and Louis are extremely rare and one signed by both is likely unique.
