On May 23, 1941 at Griffith Stadium in Washington D.C. heavyweight champion Joe Louis fought contender Buddy Baer (brother of Max) for the first time. Louis won the fight by disqualification in round seven. Louis was down in first, but Baer was down three times in sixth. The last knockdown of Baer was after the bell, according to Baer's manager, who then refuses to leave the ring, upon which Baer is disqualified. Offered here is a scarce poster advertising the viewing of the fight film of this contest one week after the fight.
