HISTORY: On February 11, 1949 at Madison Square Garden in New York world featherweight champion Sandy Saddler defended his title against the man he won from four months earlier, Willie Pep. In this fight Pep put on a boxing exhibition and regained the title winning a unanimous 15 round decision. Offered here is an original resolution made by Pep's home city, Hartford, Connecticut recognizing Willie Pep for his victory over Sandy Saddler.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, one page, city resolution signed by the Deputy City Clerk stating, "Be it Resolved by the Court of Common Council- That this council extend its congratulations to Willie Pep upon regaining the world's featherweight title from Sandy Saddler." On Office of the Town and City Clerk letterhead. Has original folds. Clean. Not torn. 8 1/2" x 11."
