Curtis Cokes was born on June 15, 1937 in Dallas. He won the World Welterweight Title on August 24, 1966 in a bout with Manuel Gonzalez. He retired after defeating Ezra Mzinyane on October 5, 1972 with a final record of 62-14-3 with 30 KO's and 1 no contest. Presented here is an original photo postcard picturing Curtis Cokes and his trainer Doug Lord which has been signed by both on the reverse.
This is an original photo postcard which dates to when Cokes was world welterweight champion. Signed on the back in ink, "Good Luck From the Champ Curtis Cokes," and in marker, "Doug Lord." Bold color and clear image. Unused. Minor mount mark on back, otherwise clean. Not creased or torn. 3 1/2" x 5 1/2."
