Stribling, the son of vaudeville performers, was groomed to be a professional fighter from birth; Turning pro at 15, he amassed more knockouts then anyone except Archie Moore; He defeated a number of outstanding fighters during his career but was unsuccessful in several big fights
He was a good boxer and good hitter but often failed to follow up an advantage; Jim Corbett ranked him among boxing's greatest feinters, along with Jack Johnson and Benny Leonard
In 1931, he fought for the Heavyweight Championship against Max Schmeling but lost; Stribling was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1996.Presented here is a signed and inscribed photo of Stribling The signature was not done by Stribling, but one of his parents.
