Regular price $75.00
Evander Holyfieldwas scheduled to defend his title against Henry Akinwande on June 6, 1998 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Henry Akinwande tested positive for hepatitis B and was ruled ineligible to fight heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. The finding came in two separate medical tests conducted by the New York State Athletic Commission, said Greg Fritz, a spokesman for Don King Productions, the promoter of the fight. "The fight is off," Fritz said. The commission does not allow infected boxers to fight because of the risk of transmitting the disease through blood during bouts. Offered here is an original credential issued to Holyfield's trainer Don Turner.
