HISTORY: On December 8, 1924 at The Coliseum in New Orleans future world heavyweight champion Gene Tunney fought Jeff Smith in the featured bout. Tunney won a 15 round decision. Newspaper decision for Tunney from New Orleans Times-Picayune, Pittsburgh Post, AP (11-2-2 by rounds). Tunney won decisively. Smith was knocked down twice in the 12th round (erroneously stated before to be the first knockdown of his career. In fact he was first floored by George Chip on 2/20/1912).
