HISTORY: On Friday, May 4, 1900 at the New Broadway Athletic Club in New York, "Barbados" Joe Walcott fought "Mysterious" Billy Smith. This was the third meeting for these two great welterweights. In their first two meetings in 1895 and 1898 the two fought to a draw. Later in 1898 Smith defended his Welterweight Title defeating Walcott by 20 round decision. In this fight, of May 4, 1900, Walcott would gain a measure of revenge defeating Smith by 25 round decision. Walcott would go on to win the Welterweight Title the following year. Presented here is a full, unused on site ticket to the Walcott-Smith IV fight of May 4, 1900. Authenticated by PSA/DNA and graded VG-EX 4 (MK).
FULL DESCRIPTION: This official, full, unused ticket features the names of both fighters and has a section and seat number. In fine condition. Clean front and back. Has an ornate design on reverse. The two stubs are firmly attached. No creases or tears. 2 1/2" x 6 3/4". Rare ticket of two early greats. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA and graded VG-EX 4 (MK) with cert # 74771163.
