History: On May 2, 1982 middleweights Tony "El Torito" Ayala, Jr and Steve Gegory squared off at Curtis Hixson Hall In Tampa in an important division bout. Ayala demolished Gregory stopping him in the 3rd round. This was Ayala's 19th consecutive victory and 17th by knockout. He seemed indestructible and well on his way to a shot at the middleweight title. It would all fall apart in a few months when he was charged and convicted of rape and would serve the next 17 years in jail. Presented here is a rare on site poster from the early career of once promising, Tony Ayala, Jr.
