History: Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Offered here is an oversized studio photograph of Jack Dempsey taken in 1923 which he has boldly signed and inscribed.

Full description: This is a studio portrait of Jack Dempsey done by the noted Apeda Studio of New York and dated 1923. Dempsey is shown in period dress and was heavyweight champion at the time of the portrait. Boldly inscribed in fountain pen, "To My Friend Fred Loomer Best Regards Jack Dempsey. Tack holes in the white corners and clipped in upper right corner. Compression at top center border. No creases. Bold image. 11" x 14." Rare signature as champion in this size.
