History: On May 31, 1924 at Floyd Fitzsimmons Arena at Michigan City, Indiana light heavyweights Tommy Gibbons and Georges Carpentier met in the main event. Gibbons won a ten round decision. Carpentier was in bad shape at the end and was clearly outboxed. Offered here is an original antique wire photo depicting the two fighters in the ring during the bout.
