History: Robert Fitzsimmons was born on May 26, 1863 in Helston, Cornwall, England. He won the World Middleweight Title on January 14, 1891 from Jack Dempsey. On March 17, 1897 he won the World Heavyweight Title from James Corbett. He later won the World Light Heavyweight Title on November 25, 1903 from George Gardner. He retired after fighting Jersey Bellew on February 20, 1914 with a final record of 43-12 with 6 no decisions, 1 no contest, and 32 KO's. Offered here is an original, first generation, mounted antique photograph of Robert Fitzsimmons taken by New York photographer John Wood in the early 1890's.
Full description: This is an original, first generation, mounted photograph of Robert Fitzsimmons in full fight pose. Photographer name on mount. Mount has some discoloration. Photograph is bold, clear and unaffected. Not creased or torn. Minor edge and corner wear. Photo itself is in pristine condition. 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" photograph on mount of 10 7/8" x 13 1/2."
