History: Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Presented here is an original photograph of Jack Dempsey as champion during the 1920's when he was appearing in his Pathe serial, "Daredevil Jack."
Full description: This original photograph was taken in the garden of Dempsey's home in Los Angeles. It was taken on a day he took off from making the serial, "Daredevil Jack." In the photo are Ruth Roland, a Pathe serial star, and Rosemary Thelby, a screen celebrity. The photo has a clear, crisp image. There is a crease along the lower border. Some edge wear at the top. 8" x 10".
