History: Georges Carpentier was born on January 12, 1994 in Lens, France. He won the World Light Heavyweight Title on October 12, 1920 in a bout with Battling Levinsky. He also held the European Welterweight, French Welterweight, European Middleweight, European Light Heavyweight, European Heavyweight and White Heavyweight Titles. He retired after an exhibition match with Jack Walker on January 11, 1927 with a final record of 88-14-6 with 1 no decision and 56 KO's. Carpentier went on to enjoy some success as an actor in the movies after his boxing career ended. Presented here is a movie poster from the 1933 movie Toboggan a/k/a Battling-Geo which starred Georges Carpentier.

Full description: This is a French movie poster which has a beautiful color, graphic depiction of Georges Carpentier. The poster is paper which has been professionally linen backed. It measures 23 1/2" x 31 1/2." There is some miinor soiling and some slight remnants of the original folds evident. Beautiful bold color with virtually no fading. This is a very scarce poster of this great champion dating to 1933.
