History: Terry McGovern was born on March 9, 1880 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He fought as a featherweight during the 1890's and early 1900's. During his career he fought Battling Nelson, Jimmy Britt, and Joe Gans among others. On September 12, 1899 he stopped Pedlar Palmer in the 1st round to win the World Bantamweight Title. On January 9, 1900 he stopped the great George Dixon in 8 rounds to win the World Featherweight Title. Presented here is an antique photo of McGovern doing some bicycle riding.
