Robinson stopped Villemain in the 9th round. "Welterweight champion Sugar Ray Robinson tonight made it two wins in a row over Robert Villemain by stopping the rugged French middleweight in the ninth round of a non-title ten-rounder in the Palace of Sports....While an overflow crowd of 20,000 roared, Referee Robert Vesberg stopped the furious fight after 2:48 of the ninth. Robinson had clubbed the stubby Frenchman to the floor with a barrage of rights and lefts. The strong little Villemain staggered to his feet, but the referee waived him to his corner." - Associated Press. Offered here is an original, official program for this event.
