James J. Braddock, The Cinderella Man, was born on February 11, 1909 in Omaha, Nebraska. He defeated Max Baer at Long Island City, NY on June 13, 1935 to win the World Heavyweight Title. He was an extreme underdog and earned his nickname with the win. He lost the title to Joe Louis in 1937. His last fight was on January 21, 1938, a win over Tommy Farr. His final record was 46-24-4 and included fights with Art Lasky, John Henry Lewis, Maxie Rosenbloom, Pete Latzo and Tommy Loughran. Offered here is avery rare swizzle stick for Braddock's restaurant which opened in the 1930's after he won the heavyweight title.
This is a glass swizzle stick with blue glass at one end. Inserted inside the stick is a rolled paper stating, "Meet Your Friends At The James J. Braddock Ass'n. 987 Broadway, North Bergen, N.J. In fine condition. No cracks or scratches. Clean. 6 1/8" long.
