Tex Rickard was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1871. His boxing promoter career took off in 1910 when he staged the heavyweight bout between Jack Johnson and Jim Jeffries. He continued promoting and eventually acquired Madison Square Garden. He, John Ringling and others established the Madison Square Garden Corporation. He opened the new Madison Square Garden in 1925 and operated it until his death in 1929. Presented here is a circa late 1920's poster of Tex Rickard advertising Lucky Strike Cigarettes.
This colorful poster is paer and pictures Tex Rickard. The poster has been professionally linen backed. The poster has no rips, tears or creases. The color is bold. Exceptional condition for a 1920's poster. Quite rare, the only example we have seen. 13 1/2" x 19."
