Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He won the World Heavyweight Title from Sonny Liston on February 25, 1964. He announced his retirement in February of 1970 but was back in the ring later that October. He won the NABF Heavyweight Title On July 26, 1971 in a bout with Jimmy Ellis. He regained the World Heavyweight Title when he fought George Foreman in Zaire on October 30, 1974. He lost and regained the heavyweight title in 1978 against Leon Spinks. He retired after losing to Trevor Berbick on December 11, 1981 with a final record of 56-5 with 37 KO's. Offered here is an original training jump rope used by Muhammad Ali in 1978 at his camp in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania. Muhammad Ali has signed the taped handle of the jump rope. Comes with a letter of authenticity from the person who was given the jump rope at the training camp and who personally had Muhammad Ali sign it.
This is an original professional jump rope with ball bearing mechanism at each handle. Handles have been taped. Completely intact. Some rust at ball bearings. Soiling at tape from use. One handle is signed in blue ink, "Love Muhammad Ali. Person at training camp obtained this personally in 1978 while Ali was training for Leon Spinks. Signature was obtained at the same camp in 1980 when Ali was training for Larry Holmes. Full letter of authenticity.
