He announced his retirement in February of 1970 but was back in the ring later that October. He won the NABF Heavyweight Title On July 26, 1971 in a bout with Jimmy Ellis. He regained the World Heavyweight Title when he fought George Foreman in Zaire on October 30, 1974. He retired after losing to Trevor Berbick on December 11, 1981 with a final record of 56-5 with 37 KO's. Offered here is an original 1974 movie poster for the documentary The Greatest by William Klein. Photographer William Klein's seminal, gritty documentary on Muhammad Ali concentrates on the athlete's career during his early fights circa 1964 through his later triumphs at the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle. Using an intimate, impressionistic and sometimes surreal style, Klein keeps the fight footage to a minimum and concentrates more on the verbal punches that Ali hurled outside the ring at such opponents as Sonny Liston and George Foreman.
