Carmen Basilio was born on April 2, 1927 in Canastota, New York. He won the World Welterweight Title on June 10, 1955 from Tony DeMarco. He won the World Middleweight Title from Ray Robinson on September 23, 1957. He retired after losing to Paul Pender on April 22, 1961 with a final record of 56-16-7 with 27 KO's. Presented here is an original Police Gazette Gallery of Champions supplement from October, 1955 of Carmen Basilio which he has boldly signed in ink. From the collection of former boxer Vince Handley.
