Albert "Frenchy" Belanger was born in Canada on December 4, 1906. His first professional fight was on November 21, 1924, a draw against Billy Barnicott. On December 19, 1927 Belanger won a unanimous 12 round decision over Ernie Jarvis to win the world flyweight title. He lost it in his next fight.On June 10, 1930 Belanger challenged champion Frankie Genaro for the flyweight title, but lost a decision. He retired after losing to Frankie Wolfram on June 17, 1930 with a final record of 41-20-10. Frenchy Belanger died on May 27, 1969. Offered here is a signed photograph by Frenchy Belanger to trainer Buddy Ey, signed in 1964.
