HISTORY: James J. Braddock, The Cinderella Man, was born on February 11, 1909 in Omaha, Nebraska. He defeated Max Baer at Long Island City, NY on June 13, 1935 to win the World Heavyweight Title. He was an extreme underdog and earned his nickname with the win. He lost the title to Joe Louis in 1937. Presented here is an original wire photo of Jimmy Braddock as he appeared in January, 1929 when he was a leading light heavyweight contender.
