On March 18, 1932 at Chicago Stadium in Chicago, Illinois future heavyweight champion Jimmy Braddock fought Baxter Calmes. This was a period Braddock was struggling with injuries and poor nutrition and he lost a unanimous ten round decision to Calmes. Also on the show future middleweight champion Ben Jeby fought Frankie Battaglia, the man he would later beat to win the title. In this fight, however, Jeby was knocked out in the very first round. George Nichols won a split decision over Dave Maier to win the vacant world light heavyweight title. Offered here is an extremely rare, original, official program to this event.
This is an original, official program consisting of 18 pages. Has a center crease. Tape reinforcing binding. Two holes at margin running through program, not affecting the text. Missing back cover. Edge and corner wear. Neatly scored in pencil. Interior pages are clean. Despite the condition issues this is an extremely rare official program, the first we have seen. 7 1/2" x 10 1/2."
