HISTORY: Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was and continues to be one of the great figures of controversy in the history of boxing. Never a champion, but recognized as one of the dangerous middleweight contenders of the 1960's his career was cut short when he stood accused and later convicted of murder in New Jersey.
