HISTORY: Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He won the World Heavyweight Title from Sonny Liston on February 25, 1964. He announced his retirement in February of 1970 but was back in the ring later that October. He won the NABF Heavyweight Title On July 26, 1971 in a bout with Jimmy Ellis. He regained the World Heavyweight Title when he fought George Foreman in Zaire on October 30, 1974. He retired after losing to Trevor Berbick on December 11, 1981 with a final record of 56-5 with 37 KO's. Presented here is an original workout schedule book written in and used by young Cassius Clay when he was being trained as na amateur by Joe Martin at the Columbia Street Gym in Louisville. Item has been tagged for display at the gym and comes with a letter of authenticity from Jole Martin, the granddaughter of Joe Martin.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, lined paper blue book consisting of 8 pages. 7 of the pages have schedules prepared in both ink and pencil. Include notations from Clay such as "Hip Hurting." He has checked off different workouts. Name os Cassius Clay on cover. Tag reads, "CASSIUS CLAY TRAING SCHEDULE BOOK FOR THE COLUMBIA ST GYM." Book has tape on binding for reinforcement. On the tape is written, "KEEP IN GYM." One notation from Clay, written in ink reads, "Fought on TV Saturday Win 1st Round. Ref stopped Fight. Too Fast, Too much power Easy win Can'y wait for next Fight." Has a tear at top left corner which runs into inside, but no paper loss. Sticker on inside cover for THE BADGE -FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE JEFFERSON COUNTY (Joe Martin's police force). Some paper loss on cover and minor soiling. An incredible piece of early Cassius Clay history. 7" x 8 1/2."
