HISTORY: James J. Corbett was born on September 1, 1866 in San Francisco, California. He won the World Heavyweight Title from John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892. He retired after losing to Jim Jeffries on August 14, 1903 with a final record of 11-4-2 with 2 no contests and 7 KO's. Presented here is a hand written and signed letter by James J. Corbett dated November 28, 1900, approximately three months after Corbett's victory over Kid McCoy. Corbett discusses a legal case and a gift of a dog he received from the letter receiver, Rob Roy Benton. Authenticated by PSA/DNA.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, one page, hand written letter on Corbett's Cafe letterhead. Has original folds. Edge wear. Written in fountain pen. 81/4" x 10 3/4." Authenticated by PSA/DNA and comes with their full letter with Cert # AL2028. Rare, especially when he was still an active fighter.
