James J. Corbett was born on September 1, 1866 in San Francisco, California. He won the World Heavyweight Title from John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892. He retired after losing to Jim Jeffries on August 14, 1903 with a final record of 11-4-2 with 2 no contests and 7 KO's. Offered here is an ink signature of James J. Corbett which has been framed with a Police Gazette Supplement of his famous fight with Peter Jackson.
A beautiful ink signature on paer signed, "Jas Corbett April 6/32." Clean and bold with no creases or tears. Framed with a clean Police Gazette Supplement of the Corbett-Jackson fight reissued in 1950. 10 1/2" x 13 1/2." No creases or tears with only minor surface wear. In a beautiful period style frame measuring 21 1/2" x 24."
