Jack Dempsey won the World Heavweight Title from Jess willard in Toledo, Ohio on July 4, 1919. He posted career victories over Billy Miske, Fred Fulton, Geprges Carpentier, Luis Firpo and Tommy Gibbons. He lost the title in 1926 and failed in an attempt to regain it in 1927 in the famed "Long Count" fight with Gene Tunney. One of the most celebrated athletes of the 20th century. Presented here is a sepia tone studio portrait photo of Jack Dempsey which he has signed as World Champion.
This is a beautiful, sepia tone original antique studio photograph of Jack Dempsey as he looked in the prime of his career. Photo has photographer's raised seal. Pictured in period dress of the 1920's. Boldly signed in fountain pen, "To My Little Friend Rose With Sincerest Best Wishes From Jack Dempsey World's Champion." A rare signature of Dempsey as champion. The photo has one spot in the negative outside the image and the signature. 7" x 9 1/2" in fine condition with no creases, rips or tears. A stunning image of this great champion.
