In less than three years he won the World Welterweight Title demolishing Pipino Cuevas in 2 rounds on August 2, 1980. Fought two memorable fights with Sugar Ray Leonard and is largely remembered for his explosive battle with Marvin Hagler. Hearns also demolished legend Roberto Duran.
