James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Presented here is an original antique postcard of Jeffries with joe Choynski hand written noted on the back.Choynski sparred with Jeffries in training for the Jeffries-Johnson bout.
This postcard measures 3 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches.The postcard has water damage and a heavy crease down the left side.The back has hand written notes from Choynski written in ink and legible.The front also has some amall nicks on the edges.Jeffires image is clean.
