Joe Palooka was an American comic strip about a heavyweight boxing champion, created by cartoonist Ham Fisher in 1921. The strip debuted in 1930 and was carried at its peak by 900 newspapers. Joe Palooka returned to feature-length films in 1946, when Monogram Pictures launched a series of 11 low-budget films starring Joe Kirkwood, Jr. as Joe, Leon Errol as Knobby and Elyse Knox as Ann Howe. Offered here is an original, three sheet poster for JOE PALOOKA CHAMP which pictures Joe Louis and Henry Armstrong and also featured Jimmy McLarnin and Manuel Ortiz.
This is a three sheet, paper poster put out by Morgan Litho Corp. of Cleveland, Ohio. It is # 46 of 616. Bold color and print. Images are bold and clear. Includes the original folds and has some folding at lower border. Edge, corner and surface wear. There are some small pieces of tape reinforcing the seams. 41" x 79." Quite rare especially in this version which pictures the fighters.
