HISTORY: On October 16, 1909 at the Mission Street Arena in Colma, California World Heavyweight Champion Jack Johnson defended his title against World Middleweight Champion Stanley Ketchel. Ketchel knocked Johnson down in the 12th round. Johnson arose and flattened Ketchel who was counted out by referee Jack Welch. Offered here is an original, first generation photograph which depicts the two in action during the fight as the referee looks on.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, first generation photo. Photo is clearly first generation, taken from original negative, but photo paper indicates it was likely printed after 1906. Image is bold and clear. Creased in upper left corner. Minor edge wear. No tears. Clean front and back. Paper residue on back from being mounted in an album. 6 3/4" x 10." Rare shot.
