HISTORY: On September 25, 2004 at the FedEx Forum in Memphia IBF Worild Light Heavyweight champion Glen Johnson made his first title defense against Roy Jones, Jr. Johnson knocked Jones, Jr. out in the 9th round.  Jones was a 6-1 favorite. There was a crowd of about at 14,000 at the FedEx Forum. Jones earned $3 million and Johnson received $700,000. Johnson kept Jones against the ropes for most of the fight. Johnson put Jones down for the count with an overhand right to the side of the head. Jones remained down for several minutes before being helped up and placed on a stool. After about 15 minutes, he walked out of the ring with assistance from his trainers. Jones left the arena in an ambulance and was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. Johnson landed 118 of 437 punches (27%) and Jones connected on 75 of 270 (28%). The fight was named The Ring Upset of the Year for 2004. Offered here is an original Staff Credential for this event.
