On March 26, 1945 at Chicago Stadium middleweights Jake LaMotta and George Costner fought in the featured bout. LaMotta knocked Costner out in the 6th round. Costner started fast and would have won the first round but for a no-count knockdown. LaMotta took charge in the second. Costner changed his tactics in the third round and fled before LaMotta's advances, landing left jabs and brief flurries, but not able to evade Jake's body attack. George started to tire in round four. LaMotta let up in the fifth, but mounted a murderous attack in the sixth. Costner became an easy target and was dropped for a nine-count midway of the round. His left eye was closed and he was trying to quit when he arose, but LaMotta knocked him down again before the referee could stop him. Costner was counted out. Attendance was 11,115 and the gross receipts were $45,485. Offered here is a rare, original, official program for this event.
