Benny Leonard was born on April 7, 1896 in New York City, New York. He won the World Lightweight Title on May 28, 1917 from Freddie Welsh. He retired for good after losing to Jimmy McLarnin on October 7, 1932 with a final record of 180-21-6 with 6 no decisions and 69 KO's. Offered here is an original, first generation photograph of Benny Leonard and his manager Billy Gibson taken at the height of his boxing career.
This is an original, first generation, large format photo. Clear, sharp image. Has some corner damage outside of the images. A tear in lower left border with no paper loss. All faults would matte out easily and not affect the images. Extremely rare, especially in this size. 11" x 14."
