On September 24, 1935, heavyweights Joe Louis and Max Baer entered the ring with their careers going in opposite directions. Louis, undefeated, was a rising star in the division. Baer, the former heavyweight champion, was trying to rebound from his stunning loss to Jimmy Braddock a few months earlier. Louis demolished the former champ and knocked him out in the 4th round. Offered here is an original wire photo which depicts Joe Louis and his wife walking in the Sugar Hill district of Harlem the day after his victory over Max Baer.
