HISTORY: New York Jack O'Brien was actually born in Nova Scaotia on January 1, 1878. He took residence in New York and was one of the leading featherweights of his time. His first professional fight was a loss to jack Delaney on May 23, 1897. He fough even fights to a draw with Oscar Gardner, Frank Erne, George "Elbows" McFadden and Dave Sullivan. He retired after fighting a no contest with Tom Massey on June 11, 1904 with a final record of 14-9-13. Offered here is a very rare, original, cabinet card photograph of New York Jack O'Brien as he looked at the height of his career (circa 1900). Published by John Wood of New York.
